The Restaurant Mama D's Diner Goes Viral For The Menu Item Called 'My Girlfriend Is Not Hungry'

An old-fashioned US diner has gone viral after an exciting addition to its menu got the attention of a passing customer this month.

Mama D’s Diner, in the southern state of Arkansas, opened in May and looks exactly like an old-school milk bar — featuring a black and white tiled floor, red leather bar stools, booths and a bar decorated with Coca Cola signage.

While offering a completely authentic experience, the restaurant also provides those dates that just can’t make up their minds.

Mama D’s menu gives a range of burgers, sandwiches and fried chicken, but a side dish has caught the world’s attention.

The uncommon dish, printed on the bottom right-hand corner of the menu, is called “My Girlfriend is Not Hungry”.

Rather than wasting money on a completely new meal, or letting your date pick at your own order, the menu gives a handy third option for just $6.

“Add extra french fries to your dish, and fried chicken wings (2) or fried cheese sticks (3),” the menu states.

The item has been available at Mama D’s since its opening but only got global attention this week after a customer, Nick Chisler, shared a snap of it on his Facebook page during a visit. Mr. Chisler posted a close-up picture of the “My Girlfriend is Not Hungry” option, telling friends and family the restaurant was located in North Little Rock Arkansas.

“Go check them out!!!” he addressed.

What he didn’t know was his post would be shared more than 20,000 times, attract more than 5000 comments and 3000 likes.

Later, Mr. Chisler, who had shared the first photo of the menu, stated he was blown away by the reply to his post.

“Sooooo I didn’t expect this to reach so many people,” Mr. Chisler wrote. Thousands of people shared the menu photo, claiming the option would be able to begin the rising number of “date-night food theft”.

Partners in their droves agreed they were that annoying another half who often ordered nothing only to pick at the first plate they see.
